I usually have a weekly meeting with David for training with my GSD pup Brena, a pup I kept out for training of my own breeding of Candy X Parker.  I had noticed and never had ask about them before, but there was new things in the training room.  I knew what they were for, just didn’t know anything about scent detection training as it was not necessarily an area I thought I would ever train in.  I am a curious person though and enjoy training, but more than that, I use video a lot and love getting new reactions on video of new things being taught to a pup.  I like seeing just how they respond to things.  So I emailed David before my lesson to request video of him with Brena on something she had never seen or done before.  I ask if I could video him explaining to me and use Brena in the video so I would have a copy of just what scent detection was and how they train for it.  I so enjoyed the video clip for myself, but felt I would post it for all to see.  I was both surprised and pleased at how Brena did, but then I am sure a lot of that is the trainer also.  Thank you David for allowing me to do this, and thank you for explaining it on video.  I really enjoyed this different type of training… and want to add it to my time in training that I do with David in my private lessons.  It is a lot of fun to train for new things and just to learn about training in so many areas that we just don’t even think about.

Very interesting. I had no idea how you trained for that. Looks like fun.
